It all started with an epic tomato soup fight…

Strap in we are going for a ride…

Ed’s 1st Camera…

Victoria was studying Tv & SFX makeup, and Ed was studying sports science.

After spending lots of time on set whilst Victoria was supervising makeup, Ed started taking a few snaps on the camera she gave him during a wig-making project in college.

Victoria’s Epic Europe Tour

Victoria saved £1000

And travelled around Europe for 3 months in a Landrover with 2 friends.

So many good memories

When Victoria returned home she had no money, the first job she took on was as a photographers assistant.

The Photography Journey Begins…

The company invested in Victoria and encouraged her to apply as a Master Photographer which she did, and Victoria really appreciates and has gratitude for everything the company did for her.

But then disaster strikes

Unfortunately, the whole company went into liquidation a week before Christmas, at the same time Victoria lost her dad who always supported everything she did and was always so visibly proud of Victoria’s achievements and positivity.

After moving home to help support her mum there were no bus routes, Victoria couldn’t drive as she has epilepsy, so she decided the way forward to make money was to approach lots of photography studios, photographers, and creative companies to see who needed a photographer, makeup artist or salesperson and that’s where her freelance career and self-employment began.

Victoria remembers walking two miles dragging her makeup trolley over muddy fields…

... getting caught in the pouring rain many times just to get to a bus stop, then that bus would then get her to the train that she needed to get to the job, but Victoria needed to earn money.

Remember the camera?

Victoria began working on a film as a makeup supervisor and because Ed was so head over heels in love with her he just kinda… well, hung around all day. Yeah, the entire fourteen hours.

Ed was good at making the teas and doing anything to help which kept him busy as Victoria was the main artist on the makeup crew. This is where the camera became his new best friend. The director loved the images and everything went from there.

Victoria helped Ed get his first job in the industry…

…which he excelled at until we lost our jobs, and the company went into liquidation again a week before Christmas.

This is where our grit and hustle showed up as we managed to trade services with people in return for equipment. We managed to get enough kit together to be able to do shoots. Shooting anything from candles to cars, to businesses, professional headshots & much more...

Victoria worked as a makeup artist for celebrities, photographed in fashion studios, photographed events & worked in promotions.

After a year of walking through muddy fields to get to work, Ed joined her in the business & we travelled the UK to lots of fun and random events, law societies, army bases, school proms, footballer presentations, shooting with celebrities & selling prints.

We had to set up lighting, backdrops & a printer at each event and sell them there and then, with no initial upfront payment. There was never any guarantee of making a pound from any booking. We had to seriously hustle to make money to pay our bills.

Due to stress & uncertainty of where the money was coming from, Victoria’s health deteriorated, and her epilepsy got worse. So she decided to put the brand under Ed’s name & this is when we focused on wedding photography as we would be guaranteed more stability that working in events couldn’t provide.

So our wedding journey began…

Victoria chose to name our joint business ED BROWN PHOTOGRAPHY where she ran the business & Ed photographed the weddings (as due to her health Victoria does not work at weddings anymore).

Victoria still does her own - absolutely fabulous - creative work, and you can see that on her website here - www.victoriaboam.com; after you have finished reading here, why not take a look!

Although Victoria chose the most logical name for the business at the time, it never really sat right with Ed that he should get all the praise for both of their hard work…

But hard work does pay off in the end!

We’ve been fortunate enough to win hundreds of awards over the years, but when the lockdowns began in 2020, there was only one clear choice…

AND SO

Our amazing journey together is about to begin, and we're so excited to bring our unparalleled experience to your wedding day.

The passion and fire we had when we started out still continues to motivate us, and we're proud to be leading the way in stunning, emotive, authentic documentary style photography.

 WHAT ELSE?

We have worked in super high pressure photographic environments, plus having over 600 weddings under our belt there are not many situations that we haven’t seen. This is why Ed will remain calm, unphased and present throughout your entire wedding day and be your right-hand man, capturing the most important moments of your day plus so many that you didn’t see. These are the truly priceless ones.

We are all about you!

As full-time professionals, we are always on hand to be responsive to emails, text messages, WhatsApp and Instagram DM’s. Whichever way is best for you to communicate is best for us. We work with you to make the perfect team, so on the wedding day you just soak it all in and share the good times with your loved ones, just the way you planned!

 Our Style & Ethos

Our end goal is to deliver a set of images that together showcase a faithful record of your love story. Each and everyone is full of pure emotion, that bring joy to whoever looks at them (and makes everyone envious). They are, of course, images for you as a couple to enjoy, but they also act as a visual legacy to all that follow.

We believe that having a set of truly beautiful and timeless images is the greatest gift of all. These small but perfect moments in time shared with loved ones are something so special that it transcends any current fad or gimmick for a social media reel. Having soulful, authentic and beautiful images of your day for you to treasure always is our number one goal!

WE LOVE

  • Textures

  • Shooting through things to create interesting perspectives

  • Movement, energy, thangs that just give images that BOOYAH feeling!

  • Light - most shy away from HARSH light but we LOVE IT!

  • Shadows - we like to use the light to create a stunning contrast in our images

  • Details - we love them big or small - we photograph it all

  • Authenticity - if your dress is hanging we will photograph it, but we won’t walk it around the venue and put it in a tree, same goes for the shoes!

  • Connection - the little looks couples give each other, the little “in-jokes” with friends, the gentle touch from loved ones, we get them all.

  • Your guests - we actively encourage people to just do their thing - when people look at your images we want it to be a true reflection of the vibe of the day.

What types of couples book us?

This sounds so cliche but they all do, we have very strong beliefs in equality and diversity and this shines through in our work and communication, so whilst we don’t have a “typical” couple we all share many of the same values:

  • Strong connection with friends and families

  • Equality

  • Upholding our values

  • Music

  • All about a good boogie

  • Doing things our way

  • Not conforming to set ideals

  • Kindness over all

  • Believe that photographs tell a story

“When you know, you know! That’s exactly how it felt when we came across Victoria & Ed's website. We knew in that instant that we wanted Ed to shoot our wedding and no- one else would do. Meeting Ed and Vic in person confirmed this and it was like catching up with an old friend. He instinctively knew exactly what we wanted, and on the day absolutely nailed it - he was super-chilled and delivered everything we asked for and more.”
